Arrowmont Craft Conversation: Sam Lopez
April 25, 2023
“I like to think about why we make things, or do things. [These questions come up for me in the classroom and the studio.] Either side of the studio practice and the teaching really do have a strong influence on each other. They go hand in hand.”
Sam Lopez is a potter and educator living and working in San Diego, California. He makes wheel-thrown porcelain pottery that enhances experiences of sharing food and drink with family and friends. Lopez is dedicated to a life of perpetual learning and experimenting with his studio practice and is continually evolving his work to better suit daily use in the home.
