What to Expect
Tucked away on a wooded hillside in downtown Gatlinburg, TN Arrowmont offers an artistic, retreat-like setting for individuals looking to break out of their everyday routines and immerse themselves in a world of arts & crafts.
The Student Experience
Our intimate 13-acres campus offers an escape from the pressures and responsibilities of your daily life. As a student, you are afforded the opportunity to learn alongside exceptional instructors in professional studios, commune with fellow artists in on-campus housing and at our dining hall, as well as encouraged to take advantage of our rotating art exhibitions and beautiful grounds.
A Day in the Life at Arrowmont
The typical workshop day starts with a hardy meal in our dining hall, meeting new friends and catching up with old ones. It’s a short walk from there to our 9 spacious studios, where workshops open at 9AM with Instructor lead demos and at-your-own-pace learning. Small class sizes allow for one-on-one instruction with plenty of time for individual practice, regardless of skill level.
After lunch many workshops will resume until the early evening hours. Dinner is served at 5:30PM and you have your evenings free to participate in a planned activity (fireside chats and karaoke, anyone?) or take a stroll through downtown Gatlinburg. Serving as the gateway to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Gatlinburg welcomes 13 million visitors each year. The downtown Parkway offers an endless array of amusements and attractions with multi-cultural dining options, independent shops, and a constant feast for the eyes. View a full list of local events and activities on Visit Gatlinburg.
On the final day of workshops you will have a half-day of studio time to wrap up projects, say your farewells and tidy up the studios before parting ways after 3PM. It’s bittersweet to say goodbye, but there’s always another workshop season to look forward to!
