Workshop Description

During this class students will use the lathe to design and create handheld objects. The goal of the class is for you to develop form language through drawing, drafting, and experimentation. Through class discussion, exercises, and lecture, participants will discover what features, dimensions, and functions they will need to create their form, how they relate to each other, and how they tie into human behavior and psyche. Various hardware will be available to help make your everyday object well-matched to the developed form. During class you will turn samples and culminate in one finished functional object. Open to all skill levels, however previous experience with woodturning is preferred.
