Workshop Description
In this workshop students will learn to design, shape, and hollow out an original, and beautifully designed woodturned vessel. You will use the wood lathe to emulate the detail and traditions of forms derived from a variety of pottery styles found throughout fine handmade craft. Participants will discover the finer points in the art of creating beautiful semi-enclosed vessels with hand-turned classic exterior detail that also includes the proper use, sharpening and application of turning tools. The discovery and joy of shaping wood on the wood lathe and use of hand tools will lead into the creation of completing a finished vessel of your own design. Open to all skill levels.
