In this workshop students will learn how to develop an image for relief printmaking, transfer it to wood, and properly carve your image with emphasis on line and texture. Additionally, you will learn how to properly mix oil-based inks, tear down, and handle fine art paper, and use pin registration to print on printmaking presses. Class discussions will include hand printing techniques. Participants will be given the option to create a one-layer woodcut to focus on carving and experimenting with printing on different papers and fabrics or create a three+ layer reductive relief woodcut edition on eastern paper. Open to all skill levels. Please note carving wood is a physically intensive process for hands and elbows.
