Artist Bio
Doug Jones is an artist, designer, and educator in Detroit, Michigan. He earned his MFA at Cranbrook Academy of Art in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan and his BA at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. Jones specializes in all-inclusive design, which includes his large-scale and public work and he exhibits print, fiber, paint, drawing, and mixed media work. His 2022 exhibitions include the CAA Architecture Department Latitudes in Detroit, Design Core Detroit’s Sneakerhead exhibit, MdW Assembly at the Mana Contemporary, Deep|Space Gallery in Chicago, and the Graduate Degree Exhibition of Cranbrook Academy of Art at Cranbrook Art Museum in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan.
Workshop Description
In this workshop students will explore the use of stencils and collage. The goal is to use a wide range of personal and evocative source material, including mark making and photography, to create images. You will learn the pochoir technique and collage basics, and the artist’s approach to taking away, adding to, and assembling an image in the development of small and large-scale private and public work. Open to all skill levels.
