Workshop Description

In this workshop students will explore how transparent colors interact with each other and the fabric to which they are applied. You will discover that printing with dyes is much like printing with inks, but the dye pigments rest in the fabric rather than on the surface which allows the fabric to stay luscious and soft. Participants will learn to mix the dyes, print with paste, and properly set the pigments into protein fibers such as silk and wool. You will also test different ways of applying color and imagery to the fabric using a combination of printing and painting. Open to all skill levels.
