This workshop focuses on hand-worked surface design textile techniques guiding students from basic to advanced skills in fabric, thread, beads and found objects. Hand stitching, appliqué, thread, and bead embroidery, and found object embellishment will be utilized by participants through creating a small technique sampler as well as a textile assemblage of their own concept and design. Advanced embellishment skills such as shi-sha mirrors, sequin rosettes, and beaded bezels will be covered. The workshop wraps up with presentation options for finished work. Open to all levels, however students should have the ability to thread a needle independently.
