Artist Bio
Mi-Sook Hur is an award-winning enamelist and metalsmith artist and professor at the School of Art and Design at East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina. Her work focuses on realistic images inspired by nature. Hur is former artist-in-residence at John Michael Kohler Arts Center and at the Jentel Foundation. Her work is included in the collections of the Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts, Enamel Arts Foundation, John Michael Kohler Arts Center, Philadelphia Museum of Art, and at the Yale University Art Gallery.
Workshop Description
In this workshop students will discover modern Limoges painting techniques using overglaze paints and ink. The instructor will demystify how to work with color, producing tones and shades to create realistic images of flowers, bees, and butterflies. Inspired by nature, the class will explore color combinations and monochromatic color schemes on copper forms. Participants will complete a series of small pieces during this workshop. Open to all skill levels, however basic enameling skills, such as sifting and firing, will be helpful.
