This immersive workshop is crafted for those eager to make a lasting impact through mural art while deeply engaging with the community. In this workshop, students will learn the art of designing impactful murals that resonate with public spaces and communities. Students will learn a variety of techniques including the use of projectors for large-scale designs, the versatility of spray paint, the precision of stencils, and the durability of exterior paints. These tools will bring vibrant, thought-provoking murals to life. More than just painting, this workshop emphasizes the importance of community engagement in the creative process. Students will learn how to incorporate community input into their designs, ensuring that each mural is not only a reflection of artistic vision but also a resonant symbol for the community it adorns. This workshop offers the skills, techniques, and insights needed to create murals that spark change and conversation.

Artist Bio

Elisheba Israel Mrozik, a multidisciplinary artist from Memphis, TN, earned her BFA in Computer Arts from Memphis College of Art in 2006. Her artistry spans graphic design, anime, and fine art. Key roles include contributions to the Nashville Black Artists Renaissance and exhibits at venues like The Frist Art Museum and Corvidae Gallery. Recognized for her live murals, she’s also been a featured artist at New York Comic Con and performed with the Goo Goo Dolls in Buffalo, NY.

Elisheba’s groundbreaking strides in the tattoo world led her to open One Drop Ink Tattoo Parlour in Nashville, becoming the first licensed black artist with a tattoo shop in Middle TN. This venture brought her accolades, including Indieville TV’s 2015 Nashville Tattoo Artist of the Year and appearances on international platforms like Inkmaster.

Her collaborative installation, “Blood at the Root”, created with her husband under EXO:DUS, showcased at The Frist Art Museum, marking a milestone in her art journey. Elisheba’s literary side birthed three coloring books, with “Nashville Strong” winning an award from The Nashville Scene.

As the 2020 Nashville Emerging Leader Award recipient, Elisheba is dedicated to community-centric large-scale public art. Her recent mural works feature at venues like Slim and Husky’s and the National Museum of African American Music. In 2022, Elisheba achieved a historic Public Art commission from Metro Arts and the City of Nashville. Her mission remains: blending Fine Art with Community Purpose.
