Workshop Description

During this workshop students will create their work and then fire it in Arrowmont’s train kiln. Through class demonstrations, slide talks and class discussions, you will explore the ideas of making work for a wood firing. Discussions will include glaze and non-glaze surface treatments and strategies for placing work in the kiln for a desired outcome. Post firing treatment of the kiln and the work will be covered, along with the allusive idea of “making it” as an artist. No prior wood firing experience is necessary. Open to all skill levels.
