Workshop Overview
During this class students will learn and explore turning and carving techniques in order to create lathe-based sculptural work. Power and hand tools will be used to apply textures and designs later highlighted using fire and color. Participants will also learn how to build and operate a fixture used to carve unique patterns at the lathe. Open to all skill levels.

Artist Bio
Roberto Ferrer is a full-time artist, instructor, and demonstrator based in Chicago, Illinois. His work has been featured in the American Woodturner journal, as well as online forums and exhibitions. Ferrer was invited to participate in AAW’s Professional Outreach Program three times, and was the featured artist during 2021 AAW’s symposium. Over the past four years he took part in multiple fine art shows and received several awards including Outstanding Achievement, Best of Category and Best of the Show. His work is displayed in major private collections across the U.S. and Europe.
