Artist Bio

Elyse-Krista Mische is a mixed media artist from Appleton Wisconsin. She is currently pursuing an MS degree in Thanatology (Death Studies) with the goal of providing creative death education and resourcing. She promotes community engagement through collaboration, teaching, and residencies and was a 2017-18 Arrowmont Artist-In-Residence. Elyse-Krista serves as the vice-chair of the Appleton Public Art Committee where she advocates for inclusive and diverse public art while creating her own large scale works and murals for Appleton area businesses and celebrations.

Workshop Description

In this workshop students will learn to transform small drawings into large scale artworks. You will discover various methods of enlargement from overhead and LED projection, old school Artograph, and grid and free-hand methods. Participants will become familiar with the preferred drawing and painting materials and experiment with different masking and stenciling techniques to add flare to their compositions. The class will include drawing exercises on big sheets of paper to then create the student’s individual large canvas poster. During this collaborative class, you will discover the tips and tricks for planning, proposing, and creating bold and brilliant murals. Class culminates in a collaborative outdoor mural on the Arrowmont campus. Open to all skill levels.
