Workshop Description

In this workshop students will discover new methods to create an exciting surface for enameling. You will be working with combining sgraffito, stencils, and silkscreens in unexpected ways as you develop rich layers with images, patterns, textures, and colors. Projects will include using standard enamel powders, acrylic enamels, overglaze enamels, or sunshine paints, metallic silver and gold foils, and mica paints. Participants will apply a variety of textured finished surfaces to their work and will gain a better understanding of the chemical reactions of enamels with copper and silver foil. All techniques learned during class can be applied to jewelry, wall pieces, or working samples that can be informative for future projects. Open to all skill levels, however basic enameling knowledge helpful.
