Artist Bio

Hollie Chastain is mixed media artist and illustrator working in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Coming from a graphic design and studio art background, her work has a story-telling quality: mixing found material, strong graphic elements and modern palettes. Chastain teaches workshops across the country and maintains a home studio producing personal and client work. Her first book, If You Can Cut You Can Collage, was released November 2017.

Workshop Description

In this workshop students will use paper and small objects to elevate the surface of their work, bringing in the fun of light and shadow. You will spend the beginning of class making materials through methods of paper weaving, paper scales, folding, and more. Then, participants will use a penetrable but supportive substrate to evolve their piece, blending collage techniques and assemblage. Open to all skill levels.
