Artist Bio
Lauren Selden is a working artist and professor of art at Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas. She received her MFA from Arizona State University where she studied metalworking, jewelry, and sculpture. She exhibited her work in solo, invitational, and juried exhibitions in national and international venues. Selden has given workshops and lectures at conferences, universities, junior colleges, and art centers across the country as well as in Brazil, Germany, France, Iceland, and Mexico.

Workshop Description
In this workshop students will learn the basics of cutting metal, tacking pieces of metal together, gas welding, and MIG welding. You will be challenged to design and fabricate a sculptural work with select materials. Class discussions include safety, using various types of equipment, and how to properly operate the tools. Safety glasses, helmets and gloves are provided, however participants are encouraged to bring their own auto-darkening welding helmet and leather welding apparel if available. Open to all skill levels.
