Workshop Description

In this exploration of surface design and stitching techniques students will experiment with combining collected and handmade elements into a cohesive storytelling assemblage. During the workshop you will build upon existing surface layers with image transfer, embroidery, and reverse appliqué. Individual parts will be united using appliqué, piece-stitching, and quilting. Participants are encouraged to bring their own fabric pieces (clothing, sheets, etc.) in addition to plain yardage. This course is a great introduction for beginners and will provide advanced students with new approaches for surface manipulation. Students will leave with the workshop with the skills to continue adding to their assembled pieces at home or in their studio. Open to all skill levels.

COURSE FEE: $690
