Workshop Description

During this class students will combine the beauty of natural shed deer antlers with traditional artisan rib-style basket weaving. You will build fanciful, functional Appalachian antler egg baskets using shed mule deer antlers as the base/handle and create your own unique antler weavings using organic colors and natural materials including vines, cordages, reeds, grasses, and fibers. During class participants will explore various drilling techniques on constructing more sculptural forms. All materials will be provided by the instructor, but students are welcome to bring their own antlers or solid driftwood to practice drilling techniques. Open to all skill levels, however some manual dexterity required.

COURSE FEE: $690  ·  materials list
