From Tree To Lathe With A Focus On Decorative Platters

In this workshop students turn a decorative platter by learning to identify the most common trees in the U.S. and the best ways to use them. Beginning with rough logs, the topics covered include green wood turning, grain orientation, design, proper use of tools and finishing, and decorative techniques. Emphasis will be given on how to bring out the beauty in any piece of wood. The platter can be decorated with resins, metals, ebonizing, carving, egg shell, pyrography, masking and painting. Come and learn to make your own uniquely designed platter that people will marvel at! Open to all skill levels.
COURSE FEE: $595
Dennis Fuge is a woodturner from Erwinna, Pennsylvania who has been turning for 50 years and regularly teaches at the Peters Valley Craft School. His focus is on deep hollow vessels, platters and artistic pieces using color, mixed media and carving. Fuge has demonstrated his style at many events.
