Shake and Shoot: Powdercoating Two Ways

Why settle on just one Powercoat application method? We will explore 2! Powdercoat is durable and versatile! It can be applied to metal, glass, wood, cork, shells, stone, concrete…anything that can fit a common toaster oven and withstand 400 degrees. After the base coat is laid MANY manipulations can be made to take it to the next level. Practice, talking with experts and time have allowed me powdery wisdom to share with you. So many fun tips, tricks and stories of victory and failure sure to comfort and push you forward to success! Techniques will be mastered; color conquered, laughs will be had. All levels welcome!

Rachel Kassia Shimpock is currently a Professor of Metals and Jewelry at California State University Long Beach, California where she received her BFA in Metals and Jewelry. She is a California native raised in Surf City Orange County by two high school teachers (hard core nerd) parents. She received her MFA in the Jewelry/Metals program at San Diego State University. Her work has been shown extensively domestically, is part of the collection in Oregon Museum of Contemporary Craft and The Enamel Arts Society based in Los Angeles. Publications include “Humor in Craft” by Brigitte Martin and periodicals such as Ornament Magazine. She regularly gives workshops in various metal techniques to schools and groups. Rachel is carrying on the legacy of her parents and her trade by teaching, getting involved in her community whenever possible and utilizing every opportunity to spread the gospel of metals and jewelry!
