Put A Lid On It

September 9, 2018 – September 15, 2018

Sally Ault

In this workshop students turn lidded containers in many shapes and sizes from a very a small pill box to a large lidded bowl. Creating a good form that is also functional is the focus. You will explore different types of lid styles and work on creating the proper lid fit for the function of the container. Participants will explore a variety of knobs, handles and finials as well as experimenting with textures and embellishments to take the containers from ordinary to awesome. Some turning experience is helpful, but anyone is welcome to come and play.

Sally Ault lives in San Diego, California. She has been turning for 15 years since receiving her BFA. She loves turning boxes and containers, since they have a mystery about them. Ault has taught at many turning clubs and symposiums. She is the vice president of Programs for the San Diego Woodturners and a member of AAW and Women in Turning. Her work is shown in several galleries and has won many awards.
