Students in this workshop will design and make a small bench. A four-legged seat opens up the possibility for adventurous surface explorations on animated forms made in wood. The class covers wood milling processes, wedged mortise and tenon joinery, and carving techniques. Surface treatment demonstrations will allow participants to add flair and finish to the bench of their design. Discussion of the physical properties of wood will lead students to create work that matches its exciting and varied characteristics. Open to all skill levels.
COURSE FEE: $375
