Japanese Basketry Techniques

In this workshop students will make five distinctive baskets while exploring various types of Japanese basket styles using both round and flat weaving elements. Techniques demonstrated include randing, twining and twill weave, along with how to add interesting embellishments. This is a good survey class for students interested in learning about the wide variety of Japanese techniques. Perfect for beginners to advanced weavers. Open to all skill levels.
COURSE FEE: $525
Flo Hoppe is a full-time studio artist, teacher and author who lived in Japan from 1968-1971 and later returned to the U.S. to study with two master basket makers. She is the author of “Wicker Basketry” and “Contemporary Wicker Basketry.”
