Interaction of Texture: Layered and Stitched
July 22, 2018 – July 28, 2018
In this workshop students examine how textures can create effects like those found in color theory: contrast, blending and transparency. Through exercises with found material, you will draw from the texture studies of Josef Albers. By exploring traditional quilt-related techniques such as piecing, embroidery and appliqué, participants will broaden their textural palette and add them to layering and stitched work. To further explore texture, students can discover more dimensional forms, including mixed media. The result will be many samples and a series of small works, or the beginning of larger projects. Open to all skill levels.
COURSE FEE: $525
