In this workshop students learn how to work efficiently and precisely with the wheel using pro-tips to create taller, thinner, faster and bigger forms. If you are looking to improve your technique, work with larger amounts of clay, or if you are just getting started on the wheel then this is the class for you! It includes techniques and strategies for centering large amounts of clay and improving your throwing skills. Various options for surface decoration are introduced. Students will have bisque work at the end of the session. Open to all skill levels.

Jana Evans lives in Kansas City, Missouri and is a founding member of the Kansas City Urban Potters. She earned her MFA in 2010 from Arizona State University and has been awarded fellowships, grants and residencies while continuing her arts practice. They include the Pottery Workshop in Jingdezhen, China, Pottery Northwest in Seattle, Washington, and the Archie Bray Foundation. Evans is a career resident at Red Star Studios in Kansas City.
