Action, Time And Vision: Unpacking Biformity

June 24, 2018 – July 7, 2018

Pattie Chalmers and Matt Mitros

In this workshop students are challenged to collaborate with others to enhance their individual creativity. During class, students will produce a variety of objects inspired by daily team building exercises and playful prompts. Using sourced images, memories, storytelling and artifacts from life, you will create sculptural objects inspired by your experience and imagination. With the addition of found objects and the multitude of techniques explored, participants discover new meaning in their artistic approach. Hand building, throwing, ceramic 3-D printing, and low-tech image transfer techniques are covered by first-time collaborators Matt and Pattie in this inclusive ceramic workshop. Open to all skill levels.

Pattie Chalmers grew up in Winnipeg where she received a BFA in Printmaking from the University of Manitoba, and earned her MFA in Ceramics from the University of Minnesota. Chalmers exhibits widely, having presented work on four continents, six countries and 26 states. Since 2006, Chalmers has lived and worked in Carbondale, Illinois where she is an associate professor at Southern Illinois University. She may be slightly compulsive, and she likes to laugh at her own jokes.
