Nelson Ziegler: 66th Annual Spring Wildflower Pilgrimage Artist-of-the-Year

The 66th Annual Spring Wildflower Pilgrimage’s Featured Artist: Nelson Ziegler, is a solo exhibition by regional artist Nelson Ziegler. The exhibit showcases Ziegler’s oil paintings depicting landscapes and familiar locations within the Great Smoky Mountains and wood turned vessels. His painting, Roaring Fork, is featured on the cover of the Spring Wildflower Pilgrimage brochure and their annual T-shirt. The Spring Wildflower Pilgrimage is an annual five-day event in Great Smoky Mountains National Park offering professionally guided programs which explore the region’s rich wildflowers, wildlife, ecology, culture, and natural history through walks, motorcades, photographic tours, art classes, and indoor seminars.
Ziegler is a graduate of the Art Institute of Boston and Northwestern Academy of Watercolor. He has won many awards for both his painting and woodturning, both regionally and nationally, including Gold Medal for watercolor at the American Artists Professional League, and Honorable Mention for The Artist’s Magazine. He is a member of many art organizations including the National Watercolor Society, the American Association of Woodturners, and his work is included in private and corporate collections throughout the country.
The exhibition is on display in the Geoffrey A. Wolpert Gallery from March 17th – April 24th, 2016. The closing reception will take place on Wednesday, April 20th from 5:30-7:00 pm, during the Spring Wildflower Pilgrimage.
