The Smoky Mountain Landscape: Observe, Analyze, Create ・ Marcia Goldenstein・ En Plein Air Painting
This course will explore mixed media techniques utilizing watercolor and collage. Landscape as a subject provides many opportunities for discussions about ideas, space, image construction, history and personal response. Experimentation will be encouraged. Course will include both on-site and studio experiences along with presentations concerning historical and contemporary approaches to landscape painting. This course is for beginners to advanced, all levels of experience.
Marcia Goldenstein received her BFA and MFA degrees in Painting and Drawing from the University of Nebraska. She has been a visiting artist at the National Academy of Fine Arts, Bratislava, Slovakia; Sichuan University, Chengdu; Beihang University, Beijing; University of Texas, San Antonio; Arizona State University; University of Indianapolis; Tudor Hall, UK; College of the Ozarks; Knoxville Museum of Art; Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts; and many other schools and museums. She has an international exhibition record and is represented in numerous public and private collections in the US, Europe and China. She is currently Professor Emerita of Painting and Drawing at the University of Tennessee School of Art and continues her active art practice.
