Bill Capshaw has a BFA in ceramics and an MFA in printing processes from East Tennessee University. He taught painting, drawing and pottery at Oak Ridge Art Center and worked for Union Carbide Company in 1977. Career highlights include chairing the Pottery Studio and serving as Board President for Oak Ridge Art Center. Capshaw volunteered with Tennessee Arts Commission and served as grants application reviewer for At Risk Youth grant category. His work is in private collections and in the permanent collections of the Tennessee Arts Commission, Hunstville Museum of Art, and East Tennessee State University’s Slocum Gallery. He was named Artist of the Year (1998) by the Arts Council of Greater Knoxville.
