How to Make a Dulcimer Guitar ・ Keunho Peter Park with Beth Ireland・ Musical Instruments
Whether you are a musician who wants to learn woodworking techniques, or a woodworker who would like to learn the elements to create stringed musical instruments, or just someone looking for a fun week, this is the class for you. During this workshop students will discover how to shape with hand tools, lay out scale lengths, and string and strum the dulcimer guitar that they will create. You will also learn about tool safety of using the bandsaw, router, drill press, and stationary sanders. Open to all skill levels.

Keunho Peter Park is an international artist, woodworker, and instrument maker who teaches at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia. He holds a B.F.A in painting from South Korea’s Kookmin University and a 2013 M.F.A. in Woodworking and Furniture Design from the Rochester Institute of Technology. Among other honors, Peter won a 2015 Wharton Esherick award at the Philadelphia Museum of Art craft show, and served as a Windgate resident artist at Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

Beth Ireland earned her undergraduate degree from the State University College at Buffalo, and an MFA in sculpture from Massachusetts College of Art and Design. She has been running her company, Beth Ireland Woodworking since 1983. Her business provides woodworking with a specialization in architectural and artistic woodturning. Ireland has been involved in a traveling art/craft project entitled Turning Around America since 2010. She also teaches the 3-month Professional Woodturning Intensive at The Center For Furniture Craftsmanship. She lives and works in Saint Petersburg, Florida.
