Erin E. Castellan・ Fibers
Artist-in-Residence · Instructor · Collage · Pentaculum
Erin E. Castellan creates colorful, painterly collages using hand-embroidery, beads, knitting, crochet, and various found and painted fabrics. She fully embraces thread and other textile materials as her “paint” and enjoys the expressive range these tactile materials can offer. Castellan holds a BFA in Textile Design from the Rhode Island School of Design and an MFA in Painting from Indiana University. In addition to making artwork and knitwear, Erin enjoys teaching workshops at craft schools across the country. She lives with her husband in Western North Carolina surrounded by an overgrown meadow, vegetable gardens and fruit trees. Erin is a 2012–2013 Arrowmont Artist-in-Residence and has been one of the Penataculum area coordinators from 2017–2020.
Erin also designs and knits all erineleanor products. Each item is crafted using quality yarns made from natural fibers including merino wool, cotton, linen, and bamboo. Erin strives to produce fully-fashioned, one-of-a-kind and small batch clothing with virtually zero waste.
