Workshop Description

In this workshop, students will learn and practice the fundamentals of throwing on the wheel and surface treatment. Through various demos and individual instruction, students will be encouraged to practice their throwing skills to create modern and simple forms. These forms will be used as a canvas as students learn the technique of slip application. Students will have the opportunity to experiment with various colored slips on their very own forms. Surface decoration will continue to be explored with demos of sgraffito and water etching techniques. Prior to applying these new techniques to their thrown forms, students will be encouraged to sketch their designs to foster creative thought.
