Learn basic woodworking and assembling techniques to make a birdhouse. Parents and kids will work together to build a wooden birdhouse to hang in their yards to house their feathered friends.
Instructor ∙ Heather Ashworth
Heather Ashworth is the studio technician of the Windgate Center for Wood at Arrowmont. She received her BFA in furniture design and utilitarian ceramics at Murray State University in Murray, Kentucky. Ashworth has been in the woodworking world since high school, where she was originally interested in architecture and construction. By her senior year, she attended a trade school in St. Louis, Missouri where she developed more furniture-based skills. Following graduation, Heather was awarded a residency at Arrowmont before joining the staff. She maintains a small studio practice focusing primarily on Shaker boxes and commissions. Heather enjoys teaching community classes for youth and adults.
