Have you always wanted to dip your toes in the world of blacksmithing and leatherworking? This short, one-night class is perfect for anyone who wants to try it all out! Starting with fire, everyone will learn basic blacksmithing techniques including: bending, flattening, riveting, welding. We will use pre-punched leather belt blanks and rivet them together to secure the hand-forged belt buckles and make them perfectly sized for your waist.
Instructor ∙ Elizabeth Belz
Elizabeth Belz is a blacksmith, educator and the owner of Black Widow Forge, LLC. She was the blacksmithing apprentice at the Metal Museum in Memphis, TN for two years where she trained under master metalsmith Jim Masterson. Elizabeth was a craft education intern at North House Folk School, Grand Marais in 2016, and a resident artist with the Science Museum of Minnesota in 2017. Belz has exhibited her work, competed and taught blacksmithing throughout the United States and internationally. She is currently an Arrowmont 2021-22 Artist-in-Residence.
