Registration is now open for Arrowmont’s 2017 Adult and Children’s Community Classes. Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts invites local residents to take a workshop this winter. Classes are offered in a range of media and are taught by local and regional artists including Arrowmont’s Artists-in-Residence. Community classes are a great way to enhance your child’s art experiences, start a new hobby or hone your existing artistic talents!
Children’s classes include Saturday morning, five-week sessions (January 21st – February 18th). Kids have the opportunity to learn printmaking, jewelry-making, wheel-throwing basics on the potter’s wheel, clay hand-building, collage, woodturning and more. Every child’s art experience at Arrowmont is special and unique. Classes give children inspiration, confidence and joy in learning something new. “Potter’s wheel was awesome. I made a cup!” Hilary, Arrowmont student said.
Adult programming offers a range of creative opportunities. Five-week sessions are offered January 17th – February 16th on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. Classes include figurative clay, silkscreen printing, jewelry, textile imagery, wheel-throwing on a potter’s wheel and veneer patterning.
Short-night classes are perfect for community members who only have a few hours to devote to learning a new technique or enhancing an existing skill. Short-night classes are January 30th – February 1st and February 20th – February 22nd. Classes include paper marbling, jewelry, bookbinding, block printing and more.
For those wanting a informal night in the studio, attend one of Arrowmont’s “Wine and Craft Nights.” Bring a friend and enjoy a night of making and wine sipping! Classes are offered in three sessions – January 13th, February 24thand March 17th.
