Artist Statement:
Hammer ‘raising’ has been an essential activity of metalsmiths for thousands of years. Though I still employ traditional techniques, I try to use them in a contemporary manner. I believe that a well-designed piece should embrace both high-quality traditional techniques with contemporary design. It should also engage the eye and pique the interest of the beholder. This raised and assembled cup reflects my attempt to marry line, space, structure and function.
