Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts is a 501© (3) tax exempt, not-for-profit organization located in Gatlinburg, Tenn. Each year, Arrowmont receives 60% percent of its annual operating funds through tuition and fees. The founding Pi Beta Phi Fraternity chapters and alumnae clubs, endowments and other contributors account for another 23% percent for a total of 83%. Programming has also been made possible through a joint agreement with the Tennessee Arts Commission and The National Endowment for the Arts. The remainder must be generated through annual gifts (individual and corporate), major gifts, grants, and fundraising events such as the summer art auctions.
Without private gifts and grants, the School could not maintain its high standards and premier reputation to carry out its mission of enriching lives through art. We need your support. Gifts may be unrestricted, i.e. used for any or all needs of the School, or they may be restricted for specific needs/purposes as shown below. Donors are recognized through the Friends of Arrowmont program.
• Scholarships - Arrowmont offers a number of scholarships in the $200 to $400 range to students who otherwise could not attend.
• Artists-in-Residence Program - Through this program, the School is able to give talented new artists the opportunity to hone their skills while creating a body of work to help launch their careers.
• The National Arts Literacy initiative with the Pi Beta Phi Fraternity celebrates the value of art education.
• ArtReach and Artists-in-Schools programs - These community outreach programs take the visual arts to the community’s elementary and secondary schools, benefiting over 4,000 school children annually.
