Lindsay Oesterritter

I am intrigued by the slow and natural changes that are constantly yet imperceptibly altering our daily environments. How the seemingly permanent is being perpetually altered through the weathering of time. My current work is punctuated by the concept of the inseparable relationship form and surface develops though subtle and progressive erosion.

I find inspiration in commonplace items within my surrounding environment. An axe’s blade brand new is shiny and crisp, but through use, its actual shape is altered along with gaining a patina from wear. The form and surface become linked and unique to the singular object. It is my intention to highlight these subtle surface and form variations.

Lindsay Oesterritter earned her MFA in ceramics from Utah State University, in Logan, UT, prior to moving to Arrowmont. Originally from Kentucky, she studied at Transylvania University and the University of Louisville. Lindsay is excited to be at Arrowmont, to work, and to learn from talented artists in a variety of media.
