Participants will design and make a tile mold using Styrofoam. Students should come prepared with several 8" x 8" sketches which will be transferred to Styrofoam and their designs will be burned into the Styrofoam. Clay tiles will be made and participants encouraged to experiment with the tiles to create tea pots, bowls, vases, etc. Students should bring several bisque-ware pieces or commercial earthenware tiles to paint on with under-glazes. The instructor will demonstrate his under-glaze techniques and students will be able to decorate their bisque pieces. The class will be working with low fire, cone 06 clay and glazes; however, the techniques are applicable to any temperature.
